The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) hosted the District 3 Jazz Festival at Indiana Area Junior High School. IHS was represented by the following six students:
Joey Baunoch - Trombone 1 (Red Band)
Abigail Jozefowicz - Trumpet 4 (Red Band)
Sam Knepper - Trumpet 1 (White Band)
Zayne Hostetter - Trombone 4 (White Band)
Eva Nealen - Piano (White Band)
Andrew Levendusky - Trumpet 4 (Blue Band)
The festival includes three bands (red, white, blue) and were under the direction of Mr. Bob Matchett (red band), Mr. Kevin McManus (white band), and Mr. Steve Johnston (blue band). Each group worked with the guest conductors on a variety of topics including improvisation, section playing, exercises, and more. Each ensemble presented a set of 5 jazz charts at a public performance on February 16 in the Indiana Area Junior High School Auditorium. Congratulations to all on a fantastic performance and festival!
